Glasgow Area Convener appointed

The National Convener is delighted to announce he has appointed Sharon Angell as the new Glasgow Area Convener.

After an interim period in the role, from an open and robust recruitment process, Sharon was appointed to lead the largest Area Support Team. Jennifer Phillips who led the Glasgow Area Support Team for almost four years stood down last year for health reasons.

Sharon became a Panel Member over 12 years ago and since then has taken on the role of Panel Rep and Interim Area Convener which has given her the insight needed to understand the needs of the Panel Community and the children they support. She is committed to improving the lives of the children we see through the system and ensure the voice of young people are at the heart of all that the Glasgow Panel Community do.

Elliot Jackson, National Convener said: “We are delighted to appoint Sharon to this vital leadership role in Glasgow. Our interview panel was impressed with Sharon‘s leadership and insight. I look forward to working alongside her in her new position.”

Bev McKeown, an interviewer with experience of the hearings system, commented: “I found Sharon’s interview responses to be powerful and know she will help us to keep The Promise and continue to place children at the heart of everything we do.”
