New Area Convener for Aberdeenshire Support Team

Elliot Jackson, National Convener of Children’s Hearings Scotland, has announced the appointment of Tracey Smith as Area Convener to the Area Support Team of Aberdeenshire.

Tracey is well known within the Aberdeenshire Panel Community, having been a committed Panel Member since 2018. She also held a number of roles within the Community, co-ordinating learning and development opportunities, supporting rota management and supporting Panel Members as a Lead Panel Representative.

On her appointment, Tracey said:

“I am looking forward to taking on this new and exciting role and leading a local team of exceptional volunteers. As a former Panel Member, I am aware of the needs of the community and will do my utmost to support our local volunteers. I also look forward to contributing at the national level and ensuring that children and young people’s voices are heard throughout the hearings system."

Elliot Jackson, National Convener said:

"I am hugely impressed with Tracey. She’s clear in her purpose and priority of supporting Panel Members to deliver positive outcomes for infants, children and young people at the same time as being a strong advocate and voice for them as we head into a period of reform for the Children’s Hearings System through The Promise."
