Children’s Hearings Scotland appoints new Area Convener of Highland & Moray

Boyd McAdam, National Convener and Chief Executive, is delighted to announce and welcome Rosemary McCormack to the role of Highland & Moray Area Convener. Rosemary commences her appointment today(2nd September). During her induction period Rosemary and acting Depute Area Convener Mairi Maclean will work closely together to ensure a smooth transition.

Rosemary is committed to the rights and needs of Scotland’s infants, children, and young people and has direct experience through her current role as an Assistant Director of Curriculum and Quality at Moray College. In her current role she has 2 years is as Head of Curriculum, gained after being an Assistant Director for 10 years. In addition, she has over 30 years’ experience in managing and leading in public sector and private sector organisations.

On the appointment, Boyd said “We are delighted to welcome Rosemary to her new role as Area Convener for Highland & Moray. I have no doubt that she will be a motivated and positive manager for the Area Support Team, who exhibits a high standard of professional integrity at all times.”

Since 1997, Rosemary has been a member of the academic staff at Moray College, UHI. Rosemary also holds a number of internal and external positions including as Equality and Diversity Lead Practitioner for Moray College and as an Associate Assessor with Education Scotland.

Outside of her working life, Rosemary volunteers for MacMillan Cancer Support and has done this for over 20 years in a variety of roles.

Rosemary is a fellow with the Higher Education Academy, the Chartered Management Institute and the Institute of Leadership and Management. She is a member of the General Teaching Council for Scotland and the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council.

Rosemary said “I see myself as a ‘lifelong learner’ and believe that every day is a new day for learning. I am looking forward to this exciting new opportunity and the next few years as Area Convener for Highland and Moray”.
