Area Convener of Glasgow re-appointed

After three years and a recent review with the National Convener, Jennifer Phillips has been re-appointed as Area Convener to the Glasgow Area Support Team.

Jennifer has 14 years of experience with the Children’s Panel. She joined as a Panel Member, before quickly taking on more responsibilities to support her fellow volunteers, and became a Lead Panel Representative. In 2017 she was appointed as Area Convener, fully committed to making a difference for infants, children, young people and families attending children’s hearings.

In this role, Jennifer has helped to shape policies and processes at a national and local level to drive improvements forward. With her belief in lifelong learning and continual improvement, Jennifer has led the Glasgow Panel Community through a number of changes in the past, and now at this particularly challenging time.

With her appointment for another three years, Jennifer is committed to embracing the findings from the Independent Care Review and continuing to work towards infants, children and young people being at the heart of everything that we do.

On her appointment, Elliot Jackson, National Convener, said: “We are thrilled to see Jennifer continue as the Area Convener for Glasgow for another three years. Her contribution to the Children’s Panel, her local team, and the National Team has been outstanding. I look forward to continuing to work together with Jennifer to drive positive change and outcomes for children and young people across Glasgow.”

Jennifer said: “I am driven by the dedication and passion that my local volunteers bring to their roles and to supporting our local young people. I am delighted that I have been re-appointed for another three years and I will continue to support my volunteer team, working closely with the National Team, while keeping Glasgow’s children at the heart of everything.”
